Osthe introduces a new villain to Kollywood

Speaking about his role in Vosthi (Tamil remake of Bollywood super hit Dabangg), John Kokken said:

Osthi marks my debut in Tamil as a villain and I am really grateful to director Dharani for giving me this role. When I was told that the hero is Silambarasan, I recollected the hero of Vinnaithandi Varuvayan: an extremely young and handsome hero with a very lean physique. But on reaching the location of Vosthi, I was taken aback when I saw Silambarasan. He was beefed up and looked really tough, an exact contrast to what I had in mind. Later, after I got introduced to him, he told me he had been preparing for this film and pumping some serious iron in the gym. It was fun working with him, especially our action sequence together. He is extremely soft-spoken and a very cooperative superstar. My character in Vosthi is called Vadakeeran hailing from Tirunelveli. My look in Vosthi, very raw and rugged and fierce, is inspired from my Kannada super hit Prithvi. Dharani sir is the second director after Jacob Varghese who has actually used my talent instead of making me look like a prop. Dharani sir is by far the most amazing super fast director I have seen till date. His team is quick, organized, professional and extremely efficient. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him. Shooting for this film gave me an opportunity to work with one of my dream fight masters, one of the best fight masters in India: Kanal Kannan. Master Kanal Kannan is great with his action sequence planning and his style of fights is very unique. I had a blast working with him. I also shared screen space with one of my idol villains Sonu Sood; it was great working and interacting with him. Overall, this film was a great experience and will guarantee me more roles in Tamil films. I am excited and eagerly looking forward to its release.

Simbu to do a 'Manmadhan' sequel!

Speaking on 'Kettavan', Simbu's pet project, he spilled the beans on why the project delayed and his plans for a sequel on 'Manmadhan' as well. He expressed that the script has undergone changes and that he is also planning to do another project, a sequel to 'Manmadhan' apart from 'Kettavan'!"Kettavan will be launched soon with a scintillating fresh script and screenplay. Initially we dropped the movie as I felt the script wasn't apt. But with the new script on, I am sure it will be fascinating and I will ensure that I will do justice to the movie. I am also working on a script which will be apt as Manmadhan part 2! It will make you fall in love soon!" expressed a visibly excited STR to his fans.Although 'Kettavan' went on floors right after 'Vallavan', and various scenes were canned, STR shelved the project as he felt the scriapt for the audience. His fans were quite enthralled as Simbu now expressed that he has reworked the script, while his initial script showcased the negative shades of women in the society, the current one has a positive approach. He also expressed that he will do a sequel to his blockbuster 'Manmadhan'. When quizzed why, pat came the reply, "Out of ten questions that my fans ask, eight are always about Kettavan or Manmadhan 2. I want to pay heed to my fans' needs."

I am confident: STR

"It is the confidence I and my fans have on me that brought me to this level. It is with that same confidence I would like to say that Vettai Mannan would rock the box-office, as it is a stylish action entertainer which would be new to the audience," says Simbu. The film which has STR and Jai in lead roles is nearing completion. "It is a gangster movie. But it is being made in a stylish manner. One would get to see a new Simbu in this film. I am thoroughly concentrating on every aspect of Vettai Mannan," he says.Stating that it was his wish to try his hands at varied roles, Simbu says, "I played the role of an innocent Brahmin boy and a rough villager in Silambattam. Then for Vinnaithandi Varuvaya I became Karthik, a suave modern youngster. And in Vettai Mannan, I am a gangster."On 'Osthi', his other film, Silambarasan says, "I was awestruck when I watched Dabangg. Immediately I decided that I should act in its Tamil remake. Thankfully things fell in place in a perfect way and Dharani is giving his best to the film. It will be a super commercial entertainer."

Simbu does it for Ajith in 'Osthi'

Well if your wondering what we are referring to, Simbu, a die-hard fan of Ajith has a tribute to his thala's 'Mankatha' in his forthcoming Diwali release 'Osthi'! Ajith's well-received dialogue in 'Mankatha', 'Naanum Evalavu Naalthaan Nallavanavae Nadikirathu...' set a rage among the young and now Simbu will be using this one-liner in his 'Osthi' towards the end of the film. 'Mankatha' had a tribute to Simbu's 'Vaanam' dialogue, 'Enna Vazhka Da Idhu...', looks like the thala fan has something in store for his matinee idol now. 'Osthi' starring Silambarasan aka Simbu, Richa Gangopadhyay in the lead roles is a remake of B'town super hit 'Dabaang', and an item number featuring Simbu, Mallika Sherawat and Sonu Sood is one of the USPs of the film.

Babha Segal

It is well known that STR aka Thalaivan Silambarasan’s fond to try new combinations. This time he has bought down the sensational Bollywood Singer and rapper Babha Seghal to Kollywood. Babha Seghal has sung the Intro song in Osthe titled Osthe Maaman. A very fast paced and peppy number that would bring any audience to start dancing on their toes. We welcome Babha Seghal to the industry and at the same time STR for asking him to lend his voice.Thaman our Music Director for Osthe is so happy with the song. The song will be released later this weekend along with the trailer.

Simbu watches 'Mankatha' First Day, First Show!

A self-proclaimed fan of "Thala" Ajith, Simbu was present today (August 31), to watch the first day first show of Ajith's 50th film 'Mankatha' from Chennai. Simbu, who has many times openly declared that he is an ardent fan of Thala, took an off from his shooting schedule of 'Osthi' to watch 'Mankatha' as a fan. The shooting for 'Osthi' has been going on full swing with hero Simbu in attendance, from Mysore. But the actor has cancelled his shoot today to cheer his thala along with thousands of Ajith fans across the state. And what an opening it has been for 'Mankatha!' Thala has hit the bull's eye with his portrayal of Vinayak Mahadevan - what a way to hit the 50th film in one's career. The film has evolved as one of the best entertainers of Ajith till date, with his fans getting a good dose of their icon, be it in dance, romance or the stunts. 'Mankatha,' despite a huge star cast has Ajith written all over it. Kudus to Venkat Prabhu for providing an all round entertainer this time with a big star on board and continuing his successful innings in the Tamil film industry!

Jai to Simbu's rescue

"When stars in Bollywood support one another's initiatives, why can't the same be the case in Tamil film industry as well", urges Jai. Wonder what made Jai make such remarks? Read on...
A recent press meet shocked many as Jiiva openly alleged Simbu. As the press targeted Jiiva and him grabbing an offer on 'Ko' after Simbu's exit and quizzed him on their friendship, Jiiva shot back saying, "Simbu and I have never been good friends. Healthy competition between film stars is always welcome; however, Simbu indulges in back stabbing which is no way healthy".
Reacting to this, Simbu's 'Vettai Mannan' co-star Jai spoke to IG saying, "If Jiiva says that he wasn't even friends with Simbu, how can Simbu backstab him? And for that matter, Simbu is a pillar of strength to his friends! In fact, although he is one of the top-notch heroes he roped me in Vettai Mannan to help and better my career!" He also added that while the superstars of the Tamil film industry, Rajini and Kamal, are good friends, today's generation should follow their footsteps and stay in harmony.

The hunt for Simbu's 'Osthi' continues

Silambarasan aka STR is working on a fast pace at his diwali release, 'Osthi', that?s a remake of Bollywood blockbuster 'Dabangg' that featured Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha. The film also featured a song 'Munni Badnaam Hui...' that became a smashing hit and received international popularity. With the film being remade in Tamil, the one question that remains is who will reprise this hot number as Simbu's Munni in 'Osthi'. The latest is that Simbu and his team are keen on featuring a Bollywood top-notch actress, like Katrina Kaif of 'Sheila Ki Jawani...' fame or 'Rana' girl Deepika Padukone and Simbu and Dharani are willing to shell out up to one crore rupees for this actress! Even Bipasha Basu, B'town's dusky beauty who is currently shooting on a Hindi film with Madhavan at Greece is being considered for this item number. It may be mentioned she has earlier appeared in Ilayathalapathy Vijay's 'Sachin'. Sources close to the unit reveal that although Simbu and Dharani are keen on featuring a Bollywood actress, if it does not work out, they are very much open for a debutante as well. The hunt for Simbu's 'Osthi' continues, now willing to satisfy a fancier price tag of one crore rupees! Who would you suggest for STR? Katrina, Deepika, Bipasha or a newbie?

Kettavan : Official News

There is this one word which keeps even the wildest among the race to stop and think over and it is Kettavan. The Pet project of STR was announced way back in 2006 and was kept in back burner for various reasons. Every one know about the bad period of days he went through. Then we witnessed the dramatic back to back victories for STR both in the industry as well as in personal levels which took him to the Top league and there is no stop for him now.Kettavan started off with huge fan fare, with posters throughout the city which made every one to stop over to have a look on to the posters. That was the amount of expectation it got on the D Day of its announcement. But with sudden change in the industry and with few set backs Thalaivan STR went back to acting allowing himself to settle well in the industry. He later came up with a 1 min song. Ennada Nadakuthu Inga, Yen Kooda Irunthava Enga… This song was composed by Yuvan aka U1 and almost took every one on the first stroke. Now that STR is relaxed and well settled, Kettavan is back. STR said he his changing the script to keep it on par with today’s culture and expectations. He also said he his working more on the screen play and on the characterization.

Its a Osthee diwali maamu…

Diwali is the festival of colours they say and with things shaping up it seems STR will donning the khakhi colour this diwali.STR is on a marathon mode finishing schedules one after another for osthi in mysore without any rests. the reason behind is that he wants his fans to witness his mass antics which he is famous for.Having treated the critics with back to back critically acclaimed films , STR wants to serve his mass audience with a OSTHI treat, thats why Poda podi is being deliberately delayed to release after osthi. And we at Simbu central would also want to clear the air for any rumours on poda podi’s status. There is absolutely no problems in POda podi’s making, its shaping out really good and we have the best of the best in the producers seat to handle the release of the movie.

Osthi is very close to my heart: Silambarasan

Silambarasan aka STR is sometimes impatient, sometimes temperamental and sometimes impulsive. He had proved once again with Vaanam that his phenomenal star power is simply unparallel. It is his childlike vulnerability that strikes you the most, when you speak to him.
He may give the ‘I’m-casual-about-my-work’ vibe but there would be no compromises when it comes to work, even if that means shooting all night long without breaks. If he loves something, he will go to any extent of pushing himself as seen by the working pattern he chose during filming of Vaanam and now Osthi. The talkie portion of Dharani directed Osthi is complete, in a single schedule in Mysore and STR is going back next week to complete the last two songs and patch work. With that the film is ready, probably the fastest film of STR to be completed.
Quiz him about Osthi, he says: “Osthi is very close to my heart. It is a subject that I believed in strongly. Dharani has been a great person to work with and we completed the film is record number of days without any problems or egos. Osthi will release for Diwali”.
So what next for the young superstar? He will be completing his long-delayed Poda Podi and then moving on to his pet project Kettavan next year, a film which he will be directing. He has Vettai Mannan directed by Nelson and a film to be directed by Vetrimaran in the pipeline
But why only masala films and not hard hitting realistic films? STR laughs in his inimitable style: “Why would you want to depress people instead of giving them entertainment? There are already depressed, why do you want to depress them more?

Simbu in six-pack

If you are a fan of the latest fad of six pack abs, STR aka Simbu has got something to enthrall you. For the actor will be seen with a toned body in 'Osthi', a remake of Salman Khan's blockbuster 'Dabangg'."Since Simbu is doing the role of a police offer in this Dharani directed movie, he has developed six pack abs by working hard in a gym for more than a month. He looks so tough now," say sources in the know.STR is busy working in three films simultaneously, 'Osthi', 'Podaa Podi' and 'Vettai Mannan'. "While Osthi and Vettai Mannan are commercial movies with enough scope for action, Podaa Podi is a breezy love story," add sources.
In the meantime, Simbu is giving 'valuable inputs' to his younger brother Kuralarasan aka KTR, who is set to making his acting debut soon. "STR is the friend, philosopher and guide for KTR," according to circles close to the family.

The song is written in the mindset of a husband

It is well known that our Thalaivan STR is Multi- talented. But seems our hero is getting accolades with penning lyrics to the songs lately. Recently he wrote a song for Osthi and he went to sing it. The song is written in the mindset of a husband singing it for his wife.Speaking to STR, he said that the song has shaped up really well and that the song would be in the lines of Evan di Unna Petthan. The Music is composed by Thaman and the movie is getting directed by Dharani.
This is what STR conveyed “have written a song in osthi and sung it for all pondati’s … like a husband singing to his wife … hope u all will love it :) ”

Podaa Podi Chennai schedule is over

The crew will leave to Spain for it's final schedule, which includes shooting songs soon. And here is a exclusive pic of Podaa Podi.

STR opens up on VTV -2

The movie will be shot only by end of next year unlike the paper's quote, as we said before.
We are saying this again. The movie will happen but takes time as STR is busy with Podaa podi, Osthi and Vettai Mannan and Gautham sir with VTV Hindi version and an other commitment.

Simbu croons for 'Osthi,' tries Tirunelveli dialect

Simbu, who is currently shooting for 'Osthi,' is concentrating on his look for a fit and sculpted physique and is believed to be hitting the gym regularly for looking original in a cop's attire. He is also believed to have asked the original hero Salman Khan to shed a few tips for maintaining a fit body. There are confirmed reports now that Simbu has written and sung a song for 'Osthi.' The actor is believed to have dedicated the song to all the wives because the lyrics in the song suggest so. Simbu has wielded the mic in most of the films that he has starred and almost all the songs have been chartbusters. It is just a matter of time to see if this song would click as well.
Richa will be starring opposite Simbu in this film with supporting roles from Revathi, VTV Ganesh, Jithen Ramesh and Madhu Shalini. There are reports that suggest that Simbu is learning the nuances of Tirunelveli dialect. In the original too Salman has delivered a gruff Bihari accent. It looks like Simbu is also leaving no stones unturned and is looking at all perspectives to make the remake mint gold at the box-office. Check out this image from the sets of 'Osthi,' and tell us what you feel about STR's latest avatar...

Will he or will he not…? Will she or will she not…?

Well these will be some of the many questions swimming in the minds of people in love. Though you love a person dearly they might be the ones you pick up a quarrel with every now and then. Well these seem to be just what will form the core for the upcoming romantic film ‘Doo.’ Two of the songs in the film have been crooned by TR and STR, and this happens to be a special feature.

Simbu has crooned a melody in the film. The actor has revealed that there is also a remix version for the song. Whereas, TR has sung an out-and-out kuthu song. With Simbu and TR at the mic we can definitely expect some foot-tapping music and hit gaana tunes, we guess!

Simbu sings for Mambattiyan-2

Simbu a.k.a. STR is going guns at the moment. What with a recent hit (Vaanam) under his belt, the singer also seems to be taking his singing career seriously. Simbu has belted out a number for songs in his films as well as other movies.

'Mambattiyan-2' is getting readied with Prashanth playing the lead. The film is the remake of 'Mambattiyan' that released in 1983. Illayaraja had composed the music for the original version which released a couple of decades back. The upcoming version has been set to tune by Thaman. A song which goes like "Kattuvaliye pora ponnu..." has been crooned by Thiyagarajan. Thaman has decided to go in for a hip-hop version to suit the trend today. This hip-hop version has been crooned by Simbu.

Thaman is confident that the music of this album will do well, especially the peppy numbers which will attract the young crowd. The lyrics for all the songs have been penned by National award winning lyricist Vairamuthu.

The filming portions are over and the post-production is going on in full swing. We will let you know soon as to when Mambattiyan-2 will hit theatres.

Our Kollywood stars have always been in the forefront in reaching out to the needy. It was proved once again on Saturday when Surya and Simbu honoured students who scored top marks at separate functions held in Chennai. While Surya gave financial assistance to students at an event organised by his Agaram Foundation in association with his dad Sivakumar's trust, Simbu honoured top scorers at a function conducted by the producers of his forthcoming film Osthi.
Speaking on the occasion, Surya says, 'We have been doing our best to students every year. The event is not organised for publicity. But still, we seek media's help to motivate many to help the deserving people.' In his address, STR said, 'I am happy to honour top scorers of tenth and twelfth standard examinations. But at the same time, we should also concentrate on those who have failed in public exams. I am planning to help them.
