Silambarasan aka STR is sometimes impatient, sometimes temperamental and sometimes impulsive. He had proved once again with Vaanam that his phenomenal star power is simply unparallel. It is his childlike vulnerability that strikes you the most, when you speak to him.
He may give the ‘I’m-casual-about-my-work’ vibe but there would be no compromises when it comes to work, even if that means shooting all night long without breaks. If he loves something, he will go to any extent of pushing himself as seen by the working pattern he chose during filming of Vaanam and now Osthi. The talkie portion of Dharani directed Osthi is complete, in a single schedule in Mysore and STR is going back next week to complete the last two songs and patch work. With that the film is ready, probably the fastest film of STR to be completed.
Quiz him about Osthi, he says: “Osthi is very close to my heart. It is a subject that I believed in strongly. Dharani has been a great person to work with and we completed the film is record number of days without any problems or egos. Osthi will release for Diwali”.
So what next for the young superstar? He will be completing his long-delayed Poda Podi and then moving on to his pet project Kettavan next year, a film which he will be directing. He has Vettai Mannan directed by Nelson and a film to be directed by Vetrimaran in the pipeline
But why only masala films and not hard hitting realistic films? STR laughs in his inimitable style: “Why would you want to depress people instead of giving them entertainment? There are already depressed, why do you want to depress them more?
