Rumour mills have it that the team 'Osthi' has found their catchy phrase for the Tamil version that goes 'Kalasala'! "The word is supposed to mean joy and it received an immediate nod from Dharani and Simbu", quotes a source close to the team.
Thaman is working on the song composition and recording, after which Shruti Haasan will croon this item number, sometime by the end of this week. 'Osthi' featuring Simbu and Richa Gangopadhyay is gearing up for a Diwali release and will see an audio launch on October 6. Sources close to the unit reveal that Santhanam is at his best as always and the comic sequences will be one of the USPs of the film.

Osthe introduces a new villain to Kollywood
Speaking about his role in Vosthi (Tamil remake of Bollywood super hit Dabangg), John Kokken said:
Osthi marks my debut in Tamil as a villain and I am really grateful to director Dharani for giving me this role. When I was told that the hero is Silambarasan, I recollected the hero of Vinnaithandi Varuvayan: an extremely young and handsome hero with a very lean physique. But on reaching the location of Vosthi, I was taken aback when I saw Silambarasan. He was beefed up and looked really tough, an exact contrast to what I had in mind. Later, after I got introduced to him, he told me he had been preparing for this film and pumping some serious iron in the gym. It was fun working with him, especially our action sequence together. He is extremely soft-spoken and a very cooperative superstar. My character in Vosthi is called Vadakeeran hailing from Tirunelveli. My look in Vosthi, very raw and rugged and fierce, is inspired from my Kannada super hit Prithvi. Dharani sir is the second director after Jacob Varghese who has actually used my talent instead of making me look like a prop. Dharani sir is by far the most amazing super fast director I have seen till date. His team is quick, organized, professional and extremely efficient. I thoroughly enjoyed working with him. Shooting for this film gave me an opportunity to work with one of my dream fight masters, one of the best fight masters in India: Kanal Kannan. Master Kanal Kannan is great with his action sequence planning and his style of fights is very unique. I had a blast working with him. I also shared screen space with one of my idol villains Sonu Sood; it was great working and interacting with him. Overall, this film was a great experience and will guarantee me more roles in Tamil films. I am excited and eagerly looking forward to its release.

Simbu to do a 'Manmadhan' sequel!
Speaking on 'Kettavan', Simbu's pet project, he spilled the beans on why the project delayed and his plans for a sequel on 'Manmadhan' as well. He expressed that the script has undergone changes and that he is also planning to do another project, a sequel to 'Manmadhan' apart from 'Kettavan'!"Kettavan will be launched soon with a scintillating fresh script and screenplay. Initially we dropped the movie as I felt the script wasn't apt. But with the new script on, I am sure it will be fascinating and I will ensure that I will do justice to the movie. I am also working on a script which will be apt as Manmadhan part 2! It will make you fall in love soon!" expressed a visibly excited STR to his fans.Although 'Kettavan' went on floors right after 'Vallavan', and various scenes were canned, STR shelved the project as he felt the scriapt for the audience. His fans were quite enthralled as Simbu now expressed that he has reworked the script, while his initial script showcased the negative shades of women in the society, the current one has a positive approach. He also expressed that he will do a sequel to his blockbuster 'Manmadhan'. When quizzed why, pat came the reply, "Out of ten questions that my fans ask, eight are always about Kettavan or Manmadhan 2. I want to pay heed to my fans' needs."
I am confident: STR
"It is the confidence I and my fans have on me that brought me to this level. It is with that same confidence I would like to say that Vettai Mannan would rock the box-office, as it is a stylish action entertainer which would be new to the audience," says Simbu. The film which has STR and Jai in lead roles is nearing completion. "It is a gangster movie. But it is being made in a stylish manner. One would get to see a new Simbu in this film. I am thoroughly concentrating on every aspect of Vettai Mannan," he says.Stating that it was his wish to try his hands at varied roles, Simbu says, "I played the role of an innocent Brahmin boy and a rough villager in Silambattam. Then for Vinnaithandi Varuvaya I became Karthik, a suave modern youngster. And in Vettai Mannan, I am a gangster."On 'Osthi', his other film, Silambarasan says, "I was awestruck when I watched Dabangg. Immediately I decided that I should act in its Tamil remake. Thankfully things fell in place in a perfect way and Dharani is giving his best to the film. It will be a super commercial entertainer."
Simbu does it for Ajith in 'Osthi'
Well if your wondering what we are referring to, Simbu, a die-hard fan of Ajith has a tribute to his thala's 'Mankatha' in his forthcoming Diwali release 'Osthi'! Ajith's well-received dialogue in 'Mankatha', 'Naanum Evalavu Naalthaan Nallavanavae Nadikirathu...' set a rage among the young and now Simbu will be using this one-liner in his 'Osthi' towards the end of the film. 'Mankatha' had a tribute to Simbu's 'Vaanam' dialogue, 'Enna Vazhka Da Idhu...', looks like the thala fan has something in store for his matinee idol now. Babha Segal
It is well known that STR aka Thalaivan Silambarasan’s fond to try new combinations. This time he has bought down the sensational Bollywood Singer and rapper Babha Seghal to Kollywood. Babha Seghal has sung the Intro song in Osthe titled Osthe Maaman. A very fast paced and peppy number that would bring any audience to start dancing on their toes. We welcome Babha Seghal to the industry and at the same time STR for asking him to lend his voice.Thaman our Music Director for Osthe is so happy with the song. The song will be released later this weekend along with the trailer.
Simbu watches 'Mankatha' First Day, First Show!
A self-proclaimed fan of "Thala" Ajith, Simbu was present today (August 31), to watch the first day first show of Ajith's 50th film 'Mankatha' from Chennai. Simbu, who has many times openly declared that he is an ardent fan of Thala, took an off from his shooting schedule of 'Osthi' to watch 'Mankatha' as a fan. The shooting for 'Osthi' has been going on full swing with hero Simbu in attendance, from Mysore. But the actor has cancelled his shoot today to cheer his thala along with thousands of Ajith fans across the state. And what an opening it has been for 'Mankatha!' Thala has hit the bull's eye with his portrayal of Vinayak Mahadevan - what a way to hit the 50th film in one's career. The film has evolved as one of the best entertainers of Ajith till date, with his fans getting a good dose of their icon, be it in dance, romance or the stunts. 'Mankatha,' despite a huge star cast has Ajith written all over it. Kudus to Venkat Prabhu for providing an all round entertainer this time with a big star on board and continuing his successful innings in the Tamil film industry!
Jai to Simbu's rescue
"When stars in Bollywood support one another's initiatives, why can't the same be the case in Tamil film industry as well", urges Jai. Wonder what made Jai make such remarks? Read on...
A recent press meet shocked many as Jiiva openly alleged Simbu. As the press targeted Jiiva and him grabbing an offer on 'Ko' after Simbu's exit and quizzed him on their friendship, Jiiva shot back saying, "Simbu and I have never been good friends. Healthy competition between film stars is always welcome; however, Simbu indulges in back stabbing which is no way healthy".
Reacting to this, Simbu's 'Vettai Mannan' co-star Jai spoke to IG saying, "If Jiiva says that he wasn't even friends with Simbu, how can Simbu backstab him? And for that matter, Simbu is a pillar of strength to his friends! In fact, although he is one of the top-notch heroes he roped me in Vettai Mannan to help and better my career!" He also added that while the superstars of the Tamil film industry, Rajini and Kamal, are good friends, today's generation should follow their footsteps and stay in harmony.

The hunt for Simbu's 'Osthi' continues

With the film being remade in Tamil, the one question that remains is who will reprise this hot number as Simbu's Munni in 'Osthi'. The latest is that Simbu and his team are keen on featuring a Bollywood top-notch actress, like Katrina Kaif of 'Sheila Ki Jawani...' fame or 'Rana' girl Deepika Padukone and Simbu and Dharani are willing to shell out up to one crore rupees for this actress! Even Bipasha Basu, B'town's dusky beauty who is currently shooting on a Hindi film with Madhavan at Greece is being considered for this item number. It may be mentioned she has earlier appeared in Ilayathalapathy Vijay's 'Sachin'. Sources close to the unit reveal that although Simbu and Dharani are keen on featuring a Bollywood actress, if it does not work out, they are very much open for a debutante as well. The hunt for Simbu's 'Osthi' continues, now willing to satisfy a fancier price tag of one crore rupees! Who would you suggest for STR? Katrina, Deepika, Bipasha or a newbie?
